BOSSIER CITY, LA – Feb. 25, 2012 - Gerald Libersat’s Taylors Toastin Papa needed all of the 350 yards to get up in the final strides and score an 18-1 upset win in the $50,000 Mr Jess Perry Stakes on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

The Donald Watson-ridden Taylors Toast To Papa made up ground throughout the race and his rally resulted in his third-straight win with a :17.591 time. Louisiana Rangler, the 6-5 favorite, held on for second after being caught by Taylors Toastin Papa. Heza Gonna Dash was one-half length back for third in the full field of older horses.

Taylors Toastin Papa, trained by Kevin Broussard, withstood the class jump to the stakes division after winning a pair of allowance races. The five-year-old Toast To Dash son defeated Louisiana-breds by a head over 350 yards at Evangeline Downs on November 25 and then came back to defeat open rivals at the same distance by a neck on January 8.
